Calcium Tartrate

Calcium Tartrate is the semi-finished product that is obtained from the detartarisation of the residual material from distillation of vinification subproducts, commonly called “stillage”.

Carbonate and calcium chloride are added to the stillage in order to favour the formation of crystalline Calcium Tartrate. After passing through cylindrical reactors and centrifuges, the crystals are dried in order to prevent the organic part contained in them from decomposing.
The Calcium Tartrate obtained is then stored and sent to Distillerie Mazzari S.p.A. where it is used for the production of Natural Tartaric Acid, a product for which Distillerie Mazzari is the global leader.
